The Magical Musical Road To Brevard

It’s not on any map and it doesn’t appear in any guidebook but there is a road, a magical musical road, that leads some of us to Brevard. Two people who have traveled that road are Janie and Bob Sargent.

From performing all over the world in a Navy band to living in Memphis in the 70’s, Bob “Bobbo” Sargent was truly at the beginning of his journey on the magical musical road.  

It was in Memphis that Bob, writing songs and playing bass in a cover band, met his wife Janie who was writing lyrics. And it was in Memphis where Janie and Bob got back on that magical musical road and took it non-stop to Nashville to write songs together.  

Music has always been their vitamin C and so has their love of eating and cooking which inspired them in 1981 to start a catering business. In 1997 after selling their catering business, Janie and Bob decided to get back on that magical musical road again for a one-way voyage to Brevard.  

Shortly after their arrival in Brevard Janie and Bob’s love of music and food motivated them to start writing music together, producing some of their songs and creating the much loved BOBBO’S Bloody Mary Mix & Stuff.  And, over the past 16 years many well-known and very talented local musicians have had the honor to perform compositions written by Bob Sargent.
